Why would you put something on your skin that you wouldn’t eat?

foundation

For example these are the ingredients in Clinique Even Better Makeup

Active Ingredients: Octinoxate 6%, Zinc Oxide 3.5%, Titanium Dioxide 2.9% Water, Methyl Trimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone, Triethylhexanoin, Butylene Glycol, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Lauryl Peg-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Extract, Betula Alba (Birch) Bark Extract, Citrus Jabara Peel Extract, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Trametes Versicolor Extract, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Sodium Mannose Phosphate, Glycerin, Sodium Myristoyl Sarcosinate, Methicone, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone Crosspolymer-3, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Lecithin, Laureth-7, Tocopheryl Acetate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Dimethicone/Peg-10/15 Crosspolymer, Alumina, Sodium Chloride, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Mica, Bismuth Oxychloride (Ci 77163)

When you apply any of these potentially toxic chemicals on your skin they go straight into the bloodstream [see my blog post on skin] & accumulate in your body over time with uncertain impacts on your health.   If you ate this foundation, your saliva, stomach acids & enzymes would break the chemicals down & help to lessen the damage.

To protect your body & your health it is far better to buy organic products.  There are manufacturers creating safer makeup now, it just takes a bit of effort & research…

Would like to know what is in a product you use?  Let me know…

  1. Never thought of it this way. I don’t wear makeup often (less then once a month) but this is a good way to think about the make ups I choose.

That’s the next thing on my list! Tougher than everything else to source. Have found some and still searching for others.

  3. Nicole says:

Something to think about isn’t it? One would think the manufacturers would be testing all their products thoroughly before bringing them to market…
